The Washington Post has an alarming piece about Trump and his henchmen (i.e. Nosferatu’s love-child Stephen Miller), planning to make good on their insane, xenophobic campaign rhetoric. Of course, this is nothing new. In his first term Trump “was obsessed” with using the military to round up immigrants. Fortunately, his administration’s utter ineptitude allowed the Pentagon and immigration lawyers to curb the worst excesses – though we all remember the family separation policy. This time around, Trump’s got plans to eviscerate the federal bureaucracy, root out career professionals and install his own loyalists. That should grease the gears for his plans to build massive detention centers as well as use the National Guard to pull kids out of school and families off the street and drop them into dangerous and deadly circumstances in other countries. Logistically it still won’t be easy but that won’t stop them from trying. None of this is washing well with seasoned immigration officials. As Jason Houser, the former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s chief of staff said, their ideas are “psychotic.”
